Immerse yourself in Tangier’s artistic energy

If you have a few weeks to spend in Morocco, we recommend you start your trip in Tangier and make your way south. With its close proximity to Europe, Tangier is a mesmerizing mix of North Africa, Spain, France and Portugal.

Walk around in the beautiful old kasbah, visit the American Legation, catch a movie at the legendary Cinema Rif, enjoy as much tea as you can, and simply immerse yourself in this cosmopolitan city.

Wander through the streets of Chefchaouen

After a couple of days in Tangiers, make your way south to the famous blue city of Chefchaouen. This magical place is known as Morocco’s blue pearl and you’ll soon understand why. In fact, Jewish immigrants have painted their houses blue. Why? Well, that is a mystery for you to explore. Chefchaouen is a wonderful place to relax for 2-3 days, wander around the blue streets, do some shopping, take amazing photos and enjoy the peace and quiet before your next adventures.

Travel back in time in Aït Benhaddou

Across the Atlas Mountains on the edge of the Sahara desert lies the beautiful fortified town of Aït Benhaddou… which you may have seen before! Aït Benhaddou has been featured in many movies and TV shows, most famously in Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Aït Benhaddou is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that will simply blow your mind. To visit this magical place, we recommend either renting a car and driving from Marrakech or joining a guided tour.

Be a tourist in Marrakech

Marrakech is magical… and at times overwhelming. But not to worry, we are here to make sure you get to have a wonderful time in Marrakech. The most important thing to remember is: If anyone tells you something is free, it’s not. Marrakech is Morocco’s tourist hotspot and you might encounter some scams. However, they are usually quite easy to recognize and harmless. Keep in mind everybody is just trying to make a living, be firm, but friendly, the locals are truly great!

When you’re done shopping your way through the souks, head over to El Badiî, a stunning and very quiet former palace. The Bahia Palace is also well worth a visit. If you’re interested in fashion, you have to visit the Yves Saint Laurent museum. Combine your visit with an afternoon stroll in the mesmerizing Jardin Majorelle. Being one of the most instagrammable spots in Marrakech, Jardin Majorelle comes with a hefty entrance fee. If you are looking for a cheaper, more relaxed alternative, head to the Jardin Secret, not so secret anymore, but really beautiful.

Interested in learning more about Moroccan culture and history? Then the House of Photography is the place for you. Located in a beautiful Riad, this museum offers incredible exhibitions. Make sure you check out the little café on their rooftop!

Relax by the ocean in Essaouira

After a few hectic days in the beautiful chaos of Marrakech, end your trip by the ocean. Essaouira is the place to wind down and relax. This charming coastal town has a beautiful medina, great seafood and wonderful beaches.

With the growing number of digital nomads based here, chic cafés and trendy restaurants, local art centers and an overall international vibe make Essaouira a favorite. If you are a surfer or would like to learn, head down south to Taghazout. This place is still somewhat a secret… you’ll have to visit to find out why!
